Is Coffee Protecting Your Liver?

Previous evidence indicated that coffee was beneficial to your liver, but wither that was true for decaf or not had remained unclear until now. A new study has revealed that a chemical in both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee may be the actual beneficial element rather than the caffeine. The study showed that people who consumed large quantities of coffee daily had lower levels of abnormal liver enzymes. Read more details about this study below.

The researchers looked at about 27,800 people age 20 and older who reported how much coffee they had consumed over the past 24 hours. The team also looked at their blood samples for several markers of liver health. (Elevated levels of liver enzymes may be a sign of liver damage or inflammation.)

People who said they drank three or more cups of regular or decaf coffee a day had lower levels of the studied enzymes than those who did not drink any coffee.
