Latte Art

Latte_ArtLatte Art is actually about the science of milk, if you pour milk in your coffee it will not make anything other than coffee with milk. If you embrace the science of the Latte Art you will learn how the barista’s are able to make Latte Art. The trick is steam, by heating the milk with steam you break down the fats and sugars known as “denaturing.” The denaturing of the milk creates foam. When adding the steamed milk to the coffee/latte you pour the milk in first, then use the foam to decorate. Now that you understand the science behind Latte Art you can experiment steaming your milk at home and seeing what you can come up with. Read about Latte Art championships and 3d Latte Art below.

There are latte art championships.

Oh yes, there are a few different ones, including a national US and a world version. This year a guy named Christian Ullrich from Germany was the winner, with his designer latte art being a turtle.

And there’s even 3D latte art.

A barista by the name of Kazuki Yamamoto (you can follow him and his latte art designs on Twitter) made the internet go crazy last year with his 3D designs of cats, giraffes, even a Snoopy. Proof that if you have the time and the creativity, you really can do anything.
